Rene Griemens has been appointed as the new chief financial officer of Hamburg-based Kreditech.
Responsible for corporate finance and refinancing of the Kreditech Group, Griemens (pictured) will be focusing on scaling by broadening Kreditech’s international investment. He has over 20 years of experience in corporate finance in the technology and eCommerce sectors.
“The experience and strategic expertise Rene is bringing in is a huge benefit to us. In particular during the current shift from a start-up to a mid-sized, international operating company, this will be a substantial boost to Kreditech as an innovation leader,” says Sebastian Diemer, chief executive of Kreditech.
Griemens’ previous positions include, among others, Citibank in London and McKinsey & Company in Lisbon. In 2000 he became CFO of the Berlin-based start-up dooyoo, where he prepared a USD180m IPO. Afterward, he went to IEG – Investment Banking, building one of the most successful investment banking boutiques in the European market for small- to mid-sized transactions. In total, he has personally participated in over 50 different M&A transactions, financing rounds and IPOs.
“I am very enthusiastic about taking over leading tasks in such a young, yet so successful technology company. Kreditech for me and for our investors has the potential to revolutionise the market for consumer credits. After 20 years of experience in several financial businesses, I am fully convinced by the vision and innovative potential of the whole Kreditech team within this particular market,” says Griemens.
Former CFO Oliver Schimek will from now be responsible for risk management and loan allocation as the new company’s new chief investment officer.
