Burren Capital Advisors appoints Dejonckheere to investment team

Burren Capital Advisors has appointed industry veteran Frank Dejonckheere to its investment team.

Dejonckheere will join the firm as senior research analyst from Hadron Capital where he focussed on long/short relative value with a catalyst and special situation opportunities.

In his new role Dejonckheere, under chief investment officer Andrew McGrath, will be responsible for overseeing the relative value component of the portfolio as well as supporting the investment team in all other event arbitrage situations.

Dejonckheere started his career in private equity M&A at Citigroup and Merrill Lynch in London before joining Cogent Partners in New York.

McGrath says: “Frank’s experience in identifying opportunities globally, coupled with his demonstrable ability to source hard and soft catalyst situations throughout the economic cycle, will be a valuable addition to our existing research expertise.

“The past few months have witnessed momentum increasing in the event driven opportunity set specifically with regard to the announcement of substantial M&A deals in Europe and cross-border transactions.

“Burren expects to see a further pick-up in deal activity in Europe and North America during 2014. We are observing several core cyclical drivers that are favourable to a broader M&A resurgence, including improving macro visibility, CEO confidence levels, historically high retained cash levels on balance sheets, availability of relative cheap credit and lower market volatility.”
