Martin LLP appoints John Capetta as head of PE practice

Law firm Martin LLP has appointed John Capetta to lead its private equity practice group.

He joins the firm from Kelley Drye & Warren where he started his career and was chair of the firm-wide private equity practice group.

"We are pleased to have John joining us," says Christopher Martin, managing partner at Martin LLP. "John's more than 20 years focused exclusively in the private equity space will further strengthen our growing corporate practice.  It is an exciting time for our firm as we continue to expand."

Capetta has 34 years of experience in the area of mergers and acquisitions, including the representation of financial and strategic buyers, sellers (entities and individuals), and management in public and private acquisitions and divestitures and joint ventures.

"I am pleased to be joining Martin LLP," says Capetta. "I am looking forward to helping the firm grow its sophisticated M&A, VC and corporate practice, and to increasing the firm's PE presence with the support and encouragement of the attorneys there.  Kelley Drye has been a terrific home to me and a setting in which I was able to help build a high quality, high touch PE practice, and I plan to continue to work with many of the great lawyers there with whom I have worked over the last 34 years, as a supplement to the attorney resources I will have access to at Martin LLP."

Capetta has represented a wide range of private equity firms, portfolio companies and portfolio company management, most notably Credit Suisse Private Equity, DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, Tailwind Capital Partners and Warburg Pincus.
