Adamas makes three key hires

Hong Kong-based Adamas Asset Management has made three key hires to support growth of the firm’s presence in Europe and its private credit team.

Marc de Kloe (pictured), joining the executive team as Managing Director, will assist in coordinating compliant sales and marketing activities to further develop relationships with European-based groups for Adamas Asset Management and Adamas Finance Asia. He will be responsible for strategic planning and corporate business development for both Adamas and ADAM. Based in Amsterdam, de Kloe will report directly to the CEO of Adamas, Paul Heffner.

De Kloe is to develop and grow strategic relationships with European based groups for Adamas and ADAM, as well as implement better operational, corporate and ESG best practices that he has been at the forefront of implementing in previous roles. His involvement in building and developing alternative investment platforms, product development knowledge and as a spokesperson in the hedge fund and alternatives industry is widely recognised and will be instrumental to Adamas as it grows its business in Europe.

De Kloe has more than 20 years’ experience in the investment industry throughout Europe. He previously worked at ABN AMRO Private Banking where he was Global Head of Alternatives and Funds, responsible for over EUR3 billion in Alternative and over EUR60 billion in long only funds. He is a founder and director of Alternatives 4 Children, a Dutch registered charity raising money from the investment industry for children, which is seen as one of the industry’s leading charities. Marc was also named by Financial News in 2013 as one of the “40 Under 40 Hedge Fund Rising Stars”.

Alvin Chew, hired as Managing Director, and Vimla Luk, hired as Director, join the Adamas Private Credit investment team in newly-created roles. The pair will help with the origination, due diligence, execution and post-investment monitoring for all private investment at the firm.
Alvin has over 10 years’ of experience in private lending in Asia and was previously Director of Structured Finance Global Credit Trading in Deutsche Bank. Vimla previously worked as a Senior Manager at KPMG where she advised on the disposal of non-performing loans and distressed debt in China.

“The Adamas team is excited about the appointment of these strategic hires,” says Barry Lau, Managing Partner & CIO of Adamas. “Marc, Alvin and Vimla all bring unique experience, market insight, relationships and capabilities that will allow us to continue evolving the business and penetrate new markets.”
