Adams Street Partners appoints partner on Primary Investments Team

Adams Street Partners, a private markets investment management firm with USD35 billion of assets under management, has appointed Mattias de Beau as a Partner in the firm’s Primary Investments Team.

In this role, de Beau is focused on sourcing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence and managing private equity fund manager relationships throughout Europe. He is based in Adams Street’s London office and reports to Sergey Sheshuryak, Partner on the Primary Investments Team.

“We’re pleased to add another strong investment professional to our team in London,” says Sheshuryak. “Mattias is a veteran in building comprehensive private markets portfolios, and his local presence will help in our ongoing efforts to provide investors with access to the top fund managers in Europe.”

De Beau has more than 15 years of private equity and investment management experience. Before joining Adams Street, he co-headed EMEA investment activities covering primary, secondary and co-investment opportunities in London for StepStone Group, a global private markets specialist overseeing more than USD250 billion of private capital allocations, including USD46 billion in assets under management. Earlier, de Beau was a Principal at London’s Greenpark Capital, which was acquired by StepStone in 2013. He began his career as a private equity analyst at Lehman Brothers in London.

“We are very excited to welcome Mattias to Adams Street and his experience, strong relationships and knowledge of the pan-European private equity landscape will be a significant benefit to our investors across the globe,” says Kelly Meldrum, Head of Primary Investments. “The opportunities in private equity continue to expand and change and our growing team is in a strong position to take advantage of these on behalf of our investors.”

De Beau earned an MSc in Business Administration while majoring in Finance at the Stockholm University School of Business. Before that, he served as a Sergeant with the Amphibious Battalion of the Swedish Marines.

“Adams Street has a tremendous reputation in the private equity market and I am honoured to be part of the team,” says de Beau. “I look forward to working with the firm’s investors and professionals to help advance our global platform and continue building the firm’s capabilities across the region.”
