The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) has appointed Christophe Florin as Head of Emerging Markets Fund Investments in its Private Equities Department, effective immediately.
In his new role, Florin will lead a team of portfolio managers and associates and be responsible for managing existing investments in emerging market funds and for driving future investments. He will also manage and develop key external relationships with GPs, portfolio companies and other relevant parties. Based in Abu Dhabi, Florin will report to Hareb Al Darmaki, Executive Director of the Private Equities Department.
With over 20 years of experience in the private equity industry, Florin joins ADIA from AXA Private Equity where he was most recently a member of the Executive Board and Chief Operating Officer, as well as Head of Asia since 2005. From 1998 to 2005, he was the co-head of AXA Private Equity’s fund of funds activities. Prior to joining AXA in 1998, he was head of investments and partner of Développement et Partenariat, a company specialising in investing in turnaround companies. He began his private equity career as an investment manager at France’s GAN Group in 1991.
Commenting on the appointment, Al Darmaki says: “Christophe comes to ADIA with an excellent track record in emerging markets’ private equity. He will play a key role in further developing our investments in these markets as they continue to mature and grow in importance.”
Florin holds an MBA with a major in Finance from Laval University in Québec, Canada as well as a BA from Sciences Po Paris.
