Marlene Puffer, Chief Investment Officer of Alberta Investment Management Corp (AIMCo), which manages investments for pension, endowment, and government funds in Alberta, has stepped down from her position after serving for less than two years, according to a report by Financial Post.
AIMCo is not replacing her directly, with two internal executives taking on expanded leadership roles instead.
David Scudellari, who joined AIMCo from the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP) in January 2023, shortly after Puffer’s appointment, has been promoted to Senior Executive Managing Director of Private Assets and Strategic Partnerships, overseeing global private assets such as private credit, infrastructure, real estate, and private equity. Scudellari, who previously worked at Barclays and Goldman Sachs, has been instrumental in driving AIMCo’s growth into credit and private debt. He also played a key role in international expansion and developing investment leadership within the organisation.
Justin Lord meanwhile, a 12-year veteran at AIMCo, has been promoted to the newly created position of Senior Executive Managing Director of Public Markets. Lord, who was previously the head of public equities, will now oversee both public equities and fixed income.
