Algebris (UK) Limited, an independent global asset manager spanning credit, equity, private equity, and private debt, has appointed Jon Cunliffe as non-executive director and Chair following approval by the FCA, effective 1 January 2026.
Cunliffe brings significant experience in senior public service and financial policy at the Bank of England, as well as deep expertise in governance and oversight within the UK financial system. He will work closely with the Board and Executive team to support the Firm’s UK strategy and the long-term growth of the Algebris Investments Group.
Cunliffe was the Deputy Governor of the Bank of England with responsibility for Financial Stability from 2013 to 2023 and sat on the Bank’s Court of Directors, the Financial Policy Committee, the Monetary Policy Committee and the Board of the Prudential Regulation Authority.
Before joining the Bank, he was the UK Permanent Representative to the European Union, effective from January 2012. From July 2007 to December 2011, he was the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Europe and Global Issues and the UK Sherpa for the G8 and G20 and the Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary responsible for EU coordination. Between 2002 and 2007, Jon was Second Permanent Secretary at HM Treasury, Managing Director of the Macroeconomic and International Finance Directorate.
As of 30 November 2025, Algebris manages approximately €34bn in assets, with a global team of over 175 professionals across offices in London, Milan, Rome, Zurich, Dublin, Boston, Singapore, and Tokyo.
