Alvarez & Marsal hires Maureen O’Shea to bolster European PE value creation team

Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Maureen O’Shea as a managing director in its Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice, strengthening the firm’s European capabilities across supply chain, operations and procurement.

Based in London, O’Shea will advise private equity investors and portfolio companies across Europe, with a focus on operational transformation and initiatives designed to improve performance and drive value creation throughout the investment lifecycle.

Her appointment adds almost three decades of supply chain, operations and consulting experience to A&M’s European team. She has worked across sectors including consumer goods, retail, life sciences, manufacturing, transport and logistics.

O’Shea spent 20 years in operational supply chain roles, including 16 years at Procter & Gamble and four years at Merck GmbH. During that time, she led programmes covering supply chain strategy, logistics, operations, cost and working-capital improvement, organisational design, lean transformation and digital adoption.

She subsequently moved into consulting, holding senior positions at EY and KPMG before joining Baringa in 2022. At Baringa, she advised clients on complex supply chain and operational transformation programmes, combining technology, data and implementation expertise to improve productivity and profitability.

At A&M, O’Shea will work with private equity firms and management teams on areas including logistics and network optimisation, cost reduction, working-capital improvement, planning, organisational effectiveness and supply chain resilience.

She will also support clients in applying artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to operational challenges, with the aim of translating technology investment into measurable improvements in profitability and performance.

The appointment comes as private equity investors place greater emphasis on operational value creation amid pressure to improve portfolio-company performance and generate returns through more than financial engineering alone.

The hire forms part of A&M’s broader expansion of its European PEPI practice, which has added a number of senior professionals over the past year as demand for operational expertise from private equity investors has increased.
