Ambienta SGR has raised more than €500m for its inaugural private credit fund focused on lending to environmentally sustainable mid-market companies in Europe, underscoring continued investor appetite for sustainability-led strategies, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The fund has already deployed around €300m across 13 portfolio companies, with investments spanning areas such as energy infrastructure, water, and food ingredients.
Investors in the fund include APG Asset Management, the European Investment Fund, and the UK Environment Agency Pension Fund, alongside commitments from Asian and North American investors. The firm is among a growing number of European managers raising credit funds with a sustainability mandate, as investor expectations around environmental metrics continue to shape capital allocation decisions.
Ambienta applies sustainability-linked pricing mechanisms on a selective basis, offering pricing discounts where portfolio companies meet predefined environmental performance targets. Founded in 2007, the firm manages more than €4bn in assets and last year raised €500m for a private equity strategy targeting small-cap, environmentally sustainable European businesses.
