Private equity firm Arctos Partners has acquired a minority stake in AMR Holdings GP Ltd, the owner of the Aston Martin F1 team, in a deal that values the business at $1bn, according to a report by The Financial Times.
Exact details of the transaction, which is expected to close by the end of the year, have not been disclosed.
According to a statement, Arctos Partners will provide Aston Martin with “deep sports industry knowledge, and a robust network of influential relationships to support its continued growth”. In August, the private equity firm was also reportedly working on securing a minority stake in top-flight French football club Paris Saint-Germain.
The deal follows the acquisition earlier this year, of a 24% stake in Alpine’s F1 team to a investment consortium that included actors and Wrexham AFC owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, valuing the business at £725m
