Private investment house Ardian has acquired the rights to a EUR300 million investment to build a wind farm in Åndberg/Härjedalen, Sweden from OX2, a Nordic renewable energy developer.
Ardian has also engaged OX2 to lead the construction and technical management of the facility. The wind farm will be operational in 2021 and is expected to produce in excess of 800GWh per year.
Augusta & Co, a specialist financial advisory to the European renewable energy sector, acted on behalf of developer OX2, managing the sale of the project to Ardian.
Simon Clement-Davies, Managing Director, Augusta & Co, says: “The Nordics continue to set a strong benchmark for the wider European wind energy sector. In particular, Scandinavian deals such as this provide a model for bringing subsidy-free wind farm investments to fruition as the market moves into a merchant environment. We congratulate OX2 on a successful sale and anticipate that the acquisition will act as an excellent springboard for Ardian in the region.”
