Ares Management Corporation has appointed Peter Ogilvie as chief operating officer and head of strategy, expanding his remit as the firm continues to scale its global platform across credit, private equity, real estate and infrastructure strategies.
In his new role, Ogilvie will work closely with senior leadership on executing firm-wide strategic initiatives and enhancing Ares’ operating capabilities as it pursues continued growth across its alternative investment businesses.
Ogilvie currently serves as a partner and head of Ares’ Corporate Strategy Group, where he has been a key contributor to the firm’s long-term expansion strategy. He has also played a central role in several major transactions, including the acquisitions of Allied Capital, American Capital, Black Creek Group, Landmark Partners and GCP International.
He joined Ares in 2007 within the firm’s direct lending team and is a member of its operating committee. He also sits on the board of Vinci Compass.
Ares chief executive Michael Arougheti said Ogilvie has been a “transformational leader” within the organisation for nearly two decades, highlighting his strategic experience and execution track record as key factors in the appointment.
Ogilvie said he was “honoured” to take on the expanded responsibilities and looked forward to supporting the next phase of growth at the firm.
Prior to joining Ares, Ogilvie worked in leveraged finance and restructuring at Credit Suisse. He holds a degree in economics from Yale University.
Ares Management Corporation manages nearly $623bn in assets across its global platform as of December 2025, with investment activity spanning North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, South America and the Middle East.
