Gianernesto Bernardi, who joined JP Morgan just two years ago to head up the bank’s M&A activity in the country from Milan, has quit to join Azzurra Capital, a small private equity firm based in Dubai, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.

Azzurra Capital, the debut fund of which closed around two weeks ago with around $600 million in capital commitments, is focused on “European growth opportunity” investments, with the firm also reportedly planning to launch a Singapore-based fund.

Before joining JP Morgan, Bernardi was at Mediobanca as co-head of the firm’s technology, media, and telecoms (TMT) offering. He’ll be a partner at Azzurra and based in Milan.
