Bain Capital has promoted Ivano Sessa to Co-Head its European Private Equity division, alongside Stuart Gent, signalling a leadership overhaul for the firm in the region, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report cites an internal memo seen by Bloomberg as confirming the appointment of the 47-year-old, who joined Bain Capital in 2004 and before rising to to become a Partner and European Co-Head of the industrials vertical.
Sessa’s notable past transactions include the acquisition of ITP Aero from Rolls-Royce Holdings, as well as the purchase of Finnish paper manufacturer Ahlstrom-Munksjö Oyj. In Italy, Sessa spearheaded the acquisition of packaging company Fedrigoni SpA.
The memo also announced the appointment of Michael Siefke as Chair of European Private Equity. Siefke will focus on growing Bain’s presence in Germany and supporting the firm’s global industrials vertical. Robin Marshall, another key figure in Bain’s European leadership, transitioned last year to Co-Head of Global Private Equity alongside Boston-based partner Chris Gordon.
A spokesperson for Bain Capital confirmed the details of the leadership changes.
