Private investment firm Bain Capital is nearing the final close of its sixth pan-Asia private equity fund after raising approximately $10.5bn, according to a report by Bloomberg citing unnamed people familiar with the fundraising.
The vehicle has attracted about $9bn in commitments from limited partners, while Bain Capital plans to contribute roughly $1.5bn of its own capital, Bloomberg’s sources said. If finalised at that level, the fund would represent the firm’s largest Asia-focused buyout vehicle to date and significantly exceed its initial $7bn target.
Alongside the flagship fundraise, Bain Capital has also secured around $2bn for a separate investment vehicle focused on mid-market buyout opportunities in Japan, according to the same sources.
Bain Capital raised $7.1bn for its previous pan-Asia fund in 2023 and maintains a broad investment footprint across Japan, Greater China and India.
