Baker McKenzie names co-head of New York-based transactional group

International law firm Baker McKenzie has added M&A and private equity lawyer Tobias Knapp as co-head of its New York-based transactional group. 

Knapp joins from O’Melveny & Myers, where he was head of the M&A and private equity practice for the US. 

Knapp represents public and private companies as well as private equity sponsors and asset managers, according to a press statement. His experience spans M&A and private equity transactions, public and private capital raising transactions and private investment funds. He also advises clients on corporate governance, fiduciary and investment advisory relationships and shareholder activism. Toby’s practice involves US and multinational clients across a range of industries, including life sciences, healthcare, technology and financial services. 

Knapp’s appointment follows those of Johannes Baumann (M&A – Frankfurt); Eric Schwartzman (Private Equity – San Francisco); Erika López (Private Equity – Chicago); Hannah Luqmani (Private Equity – London); and Theodore Heng (Private Equity – Singapore), as well as the creation of a Los Angeles-based transactional team.
