BDO appoints new M&A Partner

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has appointed a new partner to join its M&A advisory team in London.

Gurpal Ahluwalia will lead on commercial due diligence in the healthcare and life sciences sectors, as well as focusing on growth strategy projects. He joins BDO following four years at KPMG and prior to that, the Boston Consulting Group.

Gurpal qualified as a Doctor in 2002, specialising in cardiothoracic surgery at a number of leading NHS hospitals. Throughout his varied career, he has been responsible for project delivery across a range of sectors including med-tech, pharma, healthcare and social care.

Commenting on his appointment, Gurpal says: “I have developed a strong consultancy skillset through exposure to a wide range of projects throughout my career. I am looking forward to working closely with the M&A team and bringing these skills to BDO.”

Paul Eagland, managing partner at BDO, says: “Gurpal is a welcome addition to our already strong M&A advisory team. His background in medicine will be invaluable when it comes to helping us grow our healthcare and life sciences offering.”

BDO recently reinforced its commitment to rewarding talent, promoting 14 partners from within the firm in June.

Eagland adds: “I am immensely proud that BDO continues to attract and retain the best quality advisers. We have welcomed more than 60 new partners to the business in the last two years. BDO has a great market position: large enough to attract the very best specialists, yet small enough to be agile and responsive to help our clients succeed. I see that as our winning formula.”
