Becker & Poliakoff represents APR Energy in USD250m strategic investment transaction

Becker & Poliakoff represented APR Energy, a provider of major turnkey temporary power generation services, and its management, in a USD250 million strategic investment transaction with private investment funds separately managed by Soros Fund Management LLC and Albright Capital Management LLC.

The transaction provides substantial new growth capital, which APR Energy intends to use to significantly increase its fleet of power generators and expand its operating footprint in South America and Africa.
APR Energy specialises in the sale of reliable and efficient electricity through the rapid deployment of Customised Turnkey Power Solutions and is an established leader in the power industry. APR Energy currently has contracts to provide power generation solutions to customers and communities in Argentina, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Haiti and Peru. Quantum Strategic Partners, Ltd, the Soros Fund Management fund investing in APR Energy, focuses on capital-intensive start-ups, buyouts and growth equity transactions. Albright Capital Management LLC is an independent investment adviser focused on the global emerging markets, featuring frontier markets, chaired by former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
Becker & Poliakoff’s Corporate & Securities lawyers acted as lead Mergers & Acquisitions counsel to APR Energy and its management in the transaction.  The Firm’s team, led by Jennifer Westerlund, included Steven Glauberman, Jean-Pierre Lavielle and Michael DeBiase.
John Campion, CEO of APR Energy says: “APR’s management team appreciates the efforts of our lawyers at Becker & Poliakoff in the negotiation and execution of the transaction with Soros Management and Albright Capital. The entire team worked tirelessly on our behalf, bringing depth of experience, intellect and keen judgment, and at all times displayed the highest degree of professionalism.”
Alan Becker, the firm’s managing shareholder, says: “We are thrilled to have represented APR Energy in what is likely one of the largest M&A deals in Florida this year. Becker & Poliakoff’s role as lead M&A counsel on this transaction showcases the talent of the Firm’s Corporate & Securities team, and proves that the Firm is well-placed to represent Florida’s largest companies in sophisticated capital markets and M&A transactions.”
