Behrman Capital appoints operating partner

Behrman Capital a private equity firm focused on MBOs, leveraged buildups and recapitalisations of established growth businesses, has named Eric Smith as an operating partner, bringing his extensive operational and portfolio management experience to the firm.

In his new role, Smith will advise both the investment team and executives at Behrman’s portfolio companies on management, operational strategy, and growth initiatives. He previously served as CEO of BECO Holding Company, a former Behrman portfolio company, where he led multiple acquisitions, financings, and strategic expansions, helping establish the company as a leading fire and life safety solutions provider.

Grant G Behrman, Managing Partner of Behrman Capital, described Smith as “an exceptional executive whose deep management and operational expertise… will be an asset to Behrman and our portfolio companies.”

Smith’s history with Behrman dates back to 1998, when the firm acquired BHC (then Brooks Equipment Company). He served as CFO, president, and CEO across successive flagship fund investments, building the company’s industry-leading distribution platform and business information systems. Prior to his private equity work, Smith spent a decade at PwC and also served as President of the Fire Equipment Manufacturer’s Association, representing major suppliers in the sector.
