Berkshire Partners appoints new MDs

Private equity investor Berkshire Partners has appointed Matt Gooch, Saad Hasan and Ben Levy as Managing Directors effective 1 January, 2020. They join the 22 current Managing Directors in managing the firm and its affiliated investment funds. The firm’s 25 Managing Directors have an average tenure of 16 years with the firm.

Gooch joined Berkshire Partners in 2019 as Director of Business Development after more than 20 years with investment bank William Blair & Company, where he was most recently a Managing Director and head of European banking. At Berkshire, he leads the firm’s private equity investment sourcing efforts, alongside industry teams. Gooch earned a BA from Emory University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Hasan joined Stockbridge Investors, Berkshire Partners’ marketable securities business unit, in 2011. He has been involved with investing across a variety of industries, including a focus in the software vertical. Prior to joining Berkshire, Hasan held roles at Hellman & Friedman and Bain & Company. He earned an AB from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Levy joined Berkshire Partners in 2011 as a member of the private equity investment team. He is a leader on the firm’s healthcare team where he is deeply involved in sourcing, diligence and relationship building across the healthcare ecosystem. Earlier in his career, he held roles at TA Associates and Lehman Brothers. Levy earned a BA from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
