Venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP) has promoted Ambar Bhattacharyya to vice president.

Bhattacharyya is based out of Bessemer’s Cambridge, MA office. He focuses on investments in early- and growth-stage healthcare companies and has been closely involved in Bessemer’s investments in Verastem VSTM +1.00% , OvaScience, Liazon, Fractyl Laboratories, and Accuvein. He is also actively involved in BVP’s investments in Cerulean and Oxagen.
Prior to joining Bessemer, Bhattacharyya worked as an associate at Bain Capital Ventures. There, he helped make investments in companies such as Ameritox, Accelecare, LinkedIn LNKD +3.27% , iPay Technologies (acq. by Jack Henry), TargetSpot, and VMLogix (acq. by Citrix). Before Bain Capital, Bhattacharyya was the assistant to the CEO at MinuteClinic, a company that runs health clinics staffed by nurse practitioners inside retail settings and was acquired by CVS. Bhattacharyya holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and a BS in economics and a BA in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated magna cum laude.
