BGF (Business Growth Fund) has chosen Milton Keynes as the location for its ninth office as it continues to scale its operations.
The office will serve as a base to build closer connections to businesses and advisors in Milton Keynes and across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire.
BGF, the UK’s most active investor of growth capital in Britain’s small and mid-sized companies, selected Milton Keynes as its next permanent base following strong demand from the local and nearby business communities. The decision was supported by analysis of BGF’s propriety research into UK SMEs.
Since 2011, BGF has already invested more than GBP52 million in companies in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas including Celaton, Prodrive Composites, TCL Group, Ocee Design and Olive Communications.
The office, which is located in the centre of the town, will initially be home to BGF investors Mark Nunny and James Syrotiuk, who will continue to work closely with BGF’s teams in London, Birmingham and Reading.
Nunny says: “BGF is focused on building a strong regional infrastructure so that we can be close to local businesses. Our new base means we will spend more time with advisers, lawyers and the wider investment community in the area, and most importantly it allows us to more easily meet with and get to know the companies located here.”
Syrotiuk adds: “Mark and I both live close to Milton Keynes. We know there are businesses in the area that want to scale up and that could benefit from the long-term capital and support BGF provides. We’re excited to hear from ambitious companies that are considering their options for growth.”
BGF was set up in 2011 with up to GBP2.5 billion to invest. Since then, it has built a strong regional infrastructure and provided close to GBP1 billion in funding.
BGF typically makes initial investments of between GBP2 million and GBP10 million and can provide additional funding to support further growth. Unlike many other equity investors, BGF is a minority, non-controlling partner to the businesses it backs.
