Blackstone has promoted Chris James, a founding member and Chief Operating Officer of its tactical opportunities platform, to Global Head of Tactical Opportunities as part of a broader leadership reshuffle, according to a report by Alternative Credit Investor.
James will replace David Blitzer, who will transition to chairman of the business at the end of the year.
The firm has also announced new leadership roles with Jas Khaira appointed as Head of Tactical Opportunities for the Americas and Qasim Abbas taking on the role of Head of Tactical Opportunities for International Markets.
Blackstone’s tactical opportunities platform, launched in 2012, focuses on private investment opportunities outside traditional private equity and credit. With $37bn in assets under management, it is the largest structured capital solutions platform globally, investing across various asset classes, industries, and geographies to deliver risk-adjusted returns.
In 2022, Blackstone closed its Tactical Opportunities Fund IV (BTO IV) with early $10bn in capital.
