Brookfield to sell Center Parcs for up to £5bn

Canadian private equity group Brookfield has put UK and Ireland holiday resort company Center Parcs up for sale with a price tag of between £4 billion and £5 billion, according to a report by The Financial Times.

Canadian private equity group Brookfield has put UK and Ireland holiday resort company Center Parcs up for sale with a price tag of between £4 billion and £5 billion, according to a report by The Financial Times.

The report cites unnamed sources familiar with the matter as revealing that Brookfield has been examining an exit from the business in recent months and has now appointed investment bankers who have been sounding out potential buyers over the past week.

Brookfield acquired the resort group, which operates six holiday villages in the UK and Ireland, featuring visitor attractions including water parks and forest playgrounds, from Blackstone for about £2.4 billion in 2015. Center Parcs’ five UK sites were independently valued at £4.1 billion in April, based on the value of the real estate alone.

If a sale goes ahead, it would include around £2 billion in existing debt.
