Jens Brenninkmeyer, a sixth-generation member of the billionaire Brenninkmeijer family behind C&A, has been appointed CEO of Bregal Investments, a family-backed private equity firm, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Brenninkmeyer, who succeeds Alain Carrier and will officially take on the role next month, previously served as Bregal’s chief strategy officer, overseeing deal activity across direct investments and fund allocations, and leading operational reviews. He joins from Goldman Sachs and Sixth Street, where he focused on fintech and alternative-asset investments.
Bregal, founded in 2002, manages roughly €19bn and has been expanding its external capital base and secondary-market strategies. The firm is seeking greater co-investment activity and aims to accelerate growth and diversification under Brenninkmeyer’s leadership.
Cofra Holding, the family’s asset vehicle, oversees more than €35bn across private equity, real estate, and other divisions.
