German private equity firm Capiton AG is considering a sale of Raith, a nano-technology supplier to sectors including quantum computing, semiconductor production, and defence, in a deal potentially worth around €1bn ($1.2bn), according to report by Bloomberg.
Capiton has engaged UBS Group AG to advise on the potential transaction and has contacted prospective buyers, with major US technology companies reportedly among the interested parties. Raith, headquartered in Dortmund, employs 450 staff across 10 offices worldwide.
The private equity owner acquired Raith from Hannover Finanz in 2016 and established a continuation vehicle in 2023 to fund growth and acquisitions. Capiton could, however, decide to retain the business depending on market conditions.
