Capstone expands European presence with appointment of two Advisory Board members

Capstone Partners (Capstone), the independent global placement agent, has appointed two Advisory Board members in Europe.

Debbie Philippides and Neil Sneddon will help to source, evaluate and execute new client opportunities, and leverage their collective experience as successful LPs and GPs.

These appointments follow an active year for Capstone, which raises capital for private equity, credit, real asset and infrastructure firms around the world. In 2021, Capstone clients have held closes totalling more than USD10 billion in fund commitments. Capstone’s team of 40 professionals are based at five offices across three continents.

Philippides brings 22 years of investment experience in private equity across all segments of the market. She has a particular focus on the European growth and lower mid-market buyout segment, where she has extensive knowledge and a well-established network. Debbie is also a Partner at Seligman Private Equity Select, which she joined in 2006, and where she now leads investment selection activities. Previously, she spent seven years at a Scandinavian family office, where she co-founded their private equity fund-of-funds programme.

Sneddon brings over 25 years of experience in the financial sector as a seasoned private equity professional. He was a founding member of the Private Equity team at BMO Global Asset Management EMEA, formerly F&C Asset Management, where he played an integral role in developing the private equity business from one small fund to nine funds with over GBP1.5 billion of AUM. His primary focus was on European mid-market buyout/growth funds and co-investments, often with emerging managers. After extensive involvement in the initial creation of BMO Private Equity Trust plc, the team’s flagship listed investment trust, as Deputy Manager, he led many of the fund’s successful investments.

Lucien Cipollone, an Associate Partner at Capstone Partners with responsibility for client strategy and execution for European mandates, says: “We are delighted to welcome two new Advisory Board members to the firm. Both bring significant experience as GPs and LPs, deepening and expanding the service we offer our clients in Europe. The fundraising environment remains challenging and as an experienced global placement agent, we are focused on helping our clients to achieve the best possible outcomes.”
