Amsterdam-based investment platform Carbon Equity has launched its first co-investment fund, the $50m Co-Invest Fund I, targeting growth-stage, unlisted climate technology companies across the US and Europe.
The fund will invest alongside private equity investors in at least 12 companies over the next three years, with a focus on electrification, energy efficiency, robotics, and AI.
The closed-end fund, with a 10-year term, requires a minimum commitment of $250,000 (€213,000) and has already raised $20m of its target. Carbon Equity aims to complete fundraising by year-end, primarily targeting family offices and high-net-worth investors seeking direct exposure to climate tech alongside its existing fund-of-funds offerings.
Jacqueline van den Ende, co-founder and CEO, said the fund represents a natural evolution for Carbon Equity.
The firm has already co-invested in companies including Fervo Energy, XNRGY Climate Systems, Aerones, and Harbinger, drawing on its experience across €365m invested in over 250 US and European climate tech companies through 11 funds of funds.
Co-Invest Fund I will focus on companies generating $5m to $20m in revenue, targeting businesses with proven commercial traction to accelerate scaling rather than technology validation. The fund expects to deploy capital predominantly in the US (60%), with Europe representing 35% and the remaining 5% in other regions.
