Carlyle appoints three Co-Presidents and reshuffles senior leadership, effective January 2026

Global investment firm Carlyle has named John Redett, Mark Jenkins, and Jeff Nedelman as Co-Presidents, a new role designed to support CEO Harvey Schwartz in advancing strategy and investment performance.

Redett, currently CFO and Head of Corporate Strategy, will lead Global Private Equity, overseeing Corporate Private Equity and Real Assets. A 25-year industry veteran, Redett joined Carlyle in 2007, initially on the Global Financial Services team. He has driven key investments including Duff & Phelps, TCW, and BankUnited, and serves on the boards of Hilb Group and NSM Insurance.

Jenkins will head Global Credit and Insurance. Since joining Carlyle in 2016, Jenkins has led the Global Credit business and been a key member of the Leadership Committee. Previously, he was a Senior Managing Director at CPPIB, where he founded the credit investment platform and led major deals including Antares Capital. Jenkins’ earlier career includes senior roles at Barclays and Goldman Sachs. He currently serves on the board of Fortitude Re.

Nedelman will continue to lead Global Client Business and become Co-President. Nedelman joined Carlyle in 2023 from Certares, where he was a Partner and Senior Managing Director. He brings over 25 years’ experience from Goldman Sachs, including COO of Global Equities and Global Head of Prime Services. He oversees Carlyle’s investor relations and distribution across institutional and wealth channels.

Alongside these appointments, Justin Plouffe will succeed Redett as Carlyle’s CFO. Plouffe, Deputy CIO for Global Credit since 2007, manages multiple credit strategies and Carlyle’s affiliated business development companies. He holds a JD from Columbia Law and is a CFA charterholder.

Michael Wand, Head of Europe Private Equity since 2001, will become Head of EMEA Investments, leading all investment activities across the region. Wand has a strong track record in technology investments, including P&I AG, Foundry, and DEPT.

Finally, Admiral James Stavridis, Vice Chair of Global Affairs and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, will be promoted to Vice Chairman. He will continue to provide strategic guidance on global investment and geopolitical matters.

All changes take effect 1 January 2026.
