Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) and Warburg Pincus are in advanced talks to acquire Canaccord Genuity’s UK wealth management business, according to a report by Reuters citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.
The two private equity firms are pursuing the acquisition jointly after emerging as one of the leading bidders in a sale process that began last year, the sources said.
Canaccord Wealth, which provides investment management, financial planning and wealth advisory services to private clients in the UK and internationally, could command a valuation of more than £1 billion, according to estimates reported when the auction process was launched in 2025.
Representatives for CD&R and Warburg Pincus reportedly declined to comment, while Canaccord Genuity and Canaccord Wealth reportedly did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Boutique investment bank Fenchurch has been advising Canaccord Genuity on the proposed sale, according to previous reports. BlackRock-owned private credit manager HPS Investment Partners, which has held a minority interest in Canaccord Wealth since 2021, is also expected to sell its stake as part of any transaction.
A deal would give CD&R and Warburg Pincus exposure to a UK wealth management platform operating across investment management, financial planning and advisory services, as institutional investors continue to target businesses positioned to benefit from the long-term growth of private wealth.
