Setting up the Middle Office: Part 1

SEI's Holly Miller and Ross Ellis explain the core tenets of establishing a successful middle office…

Big Data is not just about aggregation, it’s about data governance and insight

Regulation and more detailed operational due diligence questionnaires used by institutional investors are pushing hedge funds to the limit of data management. Transparency is as great as it has ever been, but with that comes the need to process enormous volumes of data. Right now, however, large numbers of hedge funds do not have the required operational infrastructure to run a 'Big Data' strategy.

Reinventing Buy-side Infrastructure: Buy vs. Build has given way to Partner or Perish

The asset management industry is going through a transformative period dominated by two somewhat conflicting trends: growth and uncertainty. Revenue growth and operational efficiency are always primary business drivers, but paired with flat budgets and growing regulatory requirements, today’s asset managers often face difficult decisions about future planning.

US hedge funds react to new regulatory paradigm

This year’s Hedgeweek USA Awards event, held at the ‘Les Trois’ private room at Restaurant Ca Va in the Intercontinental Hotel, brought together an exclusive group of some of the hedge fund industry’s leading practitioners. Fom leading high yield credit hedge funds such as Jeff Peskind’s Phoenix Investment Adviser LLC, DUNN Capital Management and Paulson & Co, through to Goldman Sachs (Best North American Prime Broker), Rothstein Kass and leading administrators’ SEI and Meridian Fund Services, the atmosphere left one in no doubt that the esprit de corps is fervent within the US hedge fund industry.
