Churchill Club hosts debate on future of venture capital and private equity

The Churchill Club, Silicon Valley’s business and technology forum, will host a discussion with private equity and venture capital experts on 3 November 2009 on the future of venture capital and private equity investing, heading into 2010.

According to the forum, private equity and venture capital will play a key role in getting the economy back on track, and the Valley will lead the way. There are more than 2,000 private equity firms in the US and nearly USD450bn in assets to invest, most of which originate in Silicon Valley.

The Churchill Club says despite the eye of the storm passing, the days of easy exits and eye popping returns from average companies are over. The past two years of economic turbulence have forever changed the industry, imposing new standards for investing, capital raising and exiting.

The panel includes: Rich Brenner, president and chief executive of The Brenner Group; Navin Chaddha, managing director, Mayfield Fund; Rich Garnick, founder and chief executive, The ConJoin Group; Rich Lawson, co-founder and managing director, Huntsman Gay Global Capital; and Steve Bengston, director of emerging company services, PricewaterhouseCoopers (moderator).
