Cinven announces new partner and principal appointments

European private equity firm Cinven has announced the appointment of three new partners, Caspar Berendsen, Matthew Sabben-Clare and Xavier Geismar, and two principals, Alexis le Mari&eacut

European private equity firm Cinven has announced the appointment of three new partners, Caspar Berendsen, Matthew Sabben-Clare and Xavier Geismar, and two principals, Alexis le Marié and Christoph Hobo, in its London, Paris and Frankfurt offices.

Berendsen joined Cinven in 2003 as a member of the business and financial services sector team and has worked on a number of transactions including Maxeda, Truvo and Dutch Cable. He previously advised Dutch and Belgian clients in a variety of sectors with JP Morgan in London.

Sabben-Clare joined Cinven in 2005 from Merrill Lynch, where he worked for five years in the leveraged finance team. Since joining Cinven he has been involved in a number of transactions including Gala Coral Group, Dutch Cable, Ahlsell, Avio and USP Hospitales, and now heads Cinven’s specialist debt team.

Geismar joined Cinven in 2001 and has worked on a number of transactions including Amadeus, Numéricable and Camaieu. A member of the retail, leisure and consumer sector team, he was previously a consultant with Boston Consulting Group in Paris and also worked for Bankers Trust in London.

Le Marié joined Cinven in 2005 and has worked on a number of transactions including NCP, Avio and Coor as a member of the business and financial services team. He previously worked at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice in London and earlier spent two years with Goldman Sachs, where he worked on various transactions in the healthcare sector.

Hobo, who joined Cinven in 2004 and is a member of the healthcare sector team, previously worked in the investment banking division and the hotel and leisure coverage team with UBS in London.
