Colbeck Capital Management (Colbeck), a middle-market private credit firm focused on strategic lending, has appointed Michael Smith as a Managing Director on the Investment Team. Based in New York, he will report to Colbeck’s Co-Founders and Managing Partners, Jason Beckman and Jason Colodne.
Smith has nearly two decades of private credit and corporate lending experience across sponsored, non-sponsored, and special situations investment strategies. Prior to joining Colbeck, Smith served as Co-Head of the US Private Debt strategy at global asset manager Muzinich & Co, where he scaled the platform to more than $500 million, overseeing capital formation, origination, investment execution, portfolio, and team management.
Smith has also previously held senior investment roles at Credit Suisse, GE Antares Capital (now Antares Capital), and Madison Capital Funding (now Apogem Capital), where he executed private credit transactions across sponsored finance, non-sponsored lending, and special situations. He began his career in investment banking and corporate credit at BMO Capital Markets.
Colbeck was founded in 2009 by Colodne and Beckman, and currently manages over £3bn of invested and committed capital.
