African startup ecosystems are increasingly shifting toward local and regional funding sources as the global surge in artificial intelligence investment draws venture capital away from emerging markets and back toward the United States, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Carlyle’s Latin America-focused private investment team led by Eduardo Ramos, is to transition to Miami-based investment firm Grupo Romero Asset Management (GRAM), with the objective of establishing GRAM’s private equity platform in the Americas.
In a bid to free up funding for other investments, Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec, is considering selling up to $2bn in private equity assets via the secondary market, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Brookfield Asset Management has held the final closing of its latest flagship global private equity fund, Brookfield Capital Partners VI, with $12bn in capital commitments making it the firm’s largest PE fund to date.
