D Capital, a Japanese private equity firm focused on the lower middle market, has successfully closed its second series of funds, D Capital II Series Funds, at its hard cap of JPY67bn ($445m). The fund received strong backing from a wide range of institutional investors, both in Japan and internationally.
Founded in 2021, D Capital specialises in ‘Digital Transformation (DX) x Buyout,’ with a strong emphasis on harnessing digitalisation to drive value creation in its portfolio companies.
The firm’s approach is supported by a network of in-house and external digital experts, offering specialist capabilities in software engineering, data analytics, and business design.
This combination enables D Capital to create competitive advantages for its portfolio companies through differentiated deal origination and post-investment value-added services.
Driven by its mission to ‘Connect people, technology, and capital to inspire society,’ D Capital’s funds aim to support the growth and transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Japan by applying DX strategies.
In supporting the D Capital II Series Funds, the firm will further strengthen its collaboration with the “DX Guild,” a specialised team of around 40 professionals with expertise in business, data science, and engineering.
Through this network, D Capital provides hands-on, data-driven support to portfolio companies, driving both operational improvements and long-term value creation.
