DC Capital Partners, a private equity firm headquartered in Washington, DC and focused on investing primarily in the defence and federal sectors, has acquired a controlling interest in the Spectrum Group, a consulting firm in the Washington area.
The Spectrum Group has more than 80 associates, the majority of which are former flag and general officers representing all of the US uniformed armed services with the remainder comprised of ambassadors, political appointees, legislative experts and executives from industry.
‘The members of the Spectrum Group are among the most knowledgeable subject matter experts in Washington with unparallel experience and insight,’ says DC Capital Partners president Thomas J. Campbell.
‘They will clearly enhance the overall effectiveness of DC Capital Partners toward our objective of achieving superior investment returns. Given their extensive network of contacts, both in and out of government, and in depth expertise in our targeted sector, we believe they will complement our investment activities.’
In an effort to leverage core capabilities, the Spectrum Group recently launched a government solutions group, which will team with major prime contractors to provide its services directly to the government.
‘We have an extensive group of subject matter experts – it makes sense to provide the same services to the government that we have so successfully provided to the private sector,’ says Spectrum Group chairman Steve Loftus. ‘Partnering with DC Capital has expanded those opportunities and we are confident that our relationship will have a positive impact on the firm’s growth.’
