AccelerComm – The Southampton University spinout supercharging 5G, satellite and other wireless communications with IP which increases spectrum efficiency and reduces latency – has raised GBP5.8 million in Series A funding in a round led by IQ Capital alongside existing investors Bloc Ventures and the IP Group. The funding will be used to expand the current team, drive US and global expansion, and develop the technology further as demand for the company’s cutting-edge digital signal processing IP grows among mobile operators, telecoms equipment vendors, satellite operators and connected device manufacturers.

An affiliate of private investment firm Sun Capital Partners (Sun Capital), has made an investment in Mancini’s Sleepworld (Mancini’s” or “the Company”), a mattress retailer serving the Northern California market. Terms of the private transaction have not been disclosed.
Founded by the Mancini family in 1969, Mancini’s Sleepworld sells leading brand mattresses and other sleep products such as adjustable bed frames. Prime Capital, an independent asset manager and financial services provider that manages EUR17.7 billion across multiple funds, together with ENERPARC AG, has arranged the junior debt financing for a European solar PV portfolio, which is owned by the independent power producer MKM Invest Group. Cornerstone Brands has completed its acquisition of FXPress Payment Services Ltd (FXPress) following consent from the FCA. FXPress, a regulated Authorised Payment Institution providing cross-border payment services, is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cornerstone.

Stirling Square Capital Partners (Stirling Square), a pan-European mid-market private equity firm, has made an additional investment in portfolio company DOCU Nordic Group Holdings AB (DOCU Nordic) in partnership with TA Associates. TA Associates will acquire a significant minority stake in the Company from Stirling Square’s Third Fund alongside Stirling Square’s Fourth Fund, which becomes the majority shareholder in DOCU Nordic.

Fintech company, Growth Capital Ventures (GCV), has secured GBP1 million of growth capital from institutional investors to continue its expansion and fast-track the growth of Britain’s burgeoning tech sector. GCV has now opened up the investment round to new private investors via its online investment platform – growthfunders.com
Investment from the current round will enable GCV to support 30 high-growth start-ups and create hundreds of new tech jobs within the North East through its venture builder unit, G-Labs. It will also enable GCV to increase internal headcount from 22 to 40 in the next 12-24 months.

Ki, a fully digital and algorithmically-driven Lloyd’s syndicate, has raised USD500 million of committed capital from two backers, funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities (Blackstone) and Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited.
