IQ Capital has led a GBP 5.5 million series A funding round in CyberSmart, which helps small to medium-sized businesses combat cyber-attacks.
The fresh capital will be used to fund CyberSmart’s growth, which has seen an increase in demand with a revenue increase of 300 per cent over the past 12 months, as the lockdown accelerated the use of its cloud-based technology, according to the company.

Mid-market private equity investor LDC says there are signs transaction activity had started to rebound as more companies looked beyond the impact of the pandemic to long-term growth and diversification strategies.In a half-year update, the firm announced it had backed a total of 18 investments in the first half of 2020. The majority completed since the onset of the pandemic, with momentum increasing as eight deals closed in the past four weeks alone, and its pipeline for the second half of the year building quickly.

Kester Capital’s (Kester) portfolio company Frontier Medical, has sold its Infection Prevention business in a carve-out to Vernacare, backed by HIG Capital. The deal includes the brands Sharpsafe, Clinisafe and eXchange. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The exited businesses are industry-leaders in the Infection Prevention market providing an extensive range of sharps and clinical waste disposal solutions. Sharpsafe was the world’s first purpose-designed plastic sharps container. With a customer base across the UK and Europe, the business operates from its site in Blackwood, Wales.

Roslin Technologies, the UK’s specialist AgriTech venture builder, is embarking on a GBP50 million second round capital raise, valuing the Edinburgh-based company at more than GBP55 million. The four-year-old business, which partners closely with the Roslin Institute, creator of Dolly the Sheep, will use the funds to invest in a wide range of cutting-edge AgriTech initiatives and build valuable relationships through its growing number of portfolio companies. The investment round will be led by Milltrust International LLP and JBI Equity, two of the world’s leading AgriTech advisors, and both founding investors in the company.

Loss adjusting and claims management specialist GHG Limited near Southampton has funded its primary buy-out by securing a GBP7 million equity investment from YFM Equity Partners (YFM). The deal, with a total value of GBP17 million, is the first from the PE house’s GBP80 million Buyout Fund II and marks the second investment made by YFM since the Coronavirus pandemic began, following on from its investment into vehicle safety systems business ISS.

Foresight Group has made a GBP1 million growth capital investment into Ajenta Limited, a provider of specialist video conferencing services to schools, colleges and universities and other public sector organisations.
