LeapFrog Investments has acquired a stake in Cignifi, a platform creating financial profiles through mobile phone data.
LeapFrog is partnering with Omidyar Network, the philanthropic investment firm created by eBay Founder Pierre Omidyar, a long time investor in Cignifi.
Cignifi is aiming to help meet the needs of more than two billion emerging consumers worldwide who have mobile phones but limited access to financial services. The company has developed the first big data platform to deliver credit and marketing scores that currently reach more than 100 million consumers in 13 emerging markets, using mobile phone behaviour.

Leaking information on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals before any public announcement of the transaction added an extra USD21 million to the average value of the leaked in 2016, according to new research from Intralinks.
In addition to evidence of higher valuations for M&A deals that leak, the 2017 Intralinks Annual M&A Leaks Report, found that 8.6 per cent of worldwide M&A deals were leaked in 2016.
