Middle market private equity firm Castle Harlan has acquired Gold Star Foods, a nutritional food distributor to K-12 schools in California, Arizona and Nevada.
The seller was the Chicago private equity firm Prospect Partners.
Gold Star, based in Ontario, California, serves 380 school districts comprised of more than 3,500 schools, enabling them to provide students nutritional meals through federal and state programmes for breakfasts and lunches that include programme-approved healthy ingredients.

Impax has closed the project financing of the Joukhaisselkä wind park in Northern Finland with Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) and has completed the acquisition of the Kuolavaara-Keulakkopää wind park from Fortum and Metsähallitus.
The Kuolavaara-Keulakkopää wind park is located in the Kittilä and Sodankylä municipalities and is the second project acquired by Impax New Energy Investors II (Impax NEF II) from Fortum and Metsähallitus. The wind park has 17 wind turbines with an expected installed capacity of 51 megawatts (MW).
The Joukhaisselkä wind park has nine turbines, with a planned installed capacity of 27 MW. It is located in
Ipreo Holdings is to be acquired by private equity funds managed by Blackstone and the Goldman Sachs merchant banking division.
The sponsors are acquiring the business from affiliates of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), who will retain a minority ownership stake in the business. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

High Street Capital has sold its investment in BeneSys, a benefits payments processing services company, to The Riverside Company, a private equity firm.
BeneSys provides third party administration and related outsourced software services for Taft-Hartley union trust funds.
The company was advised by KPMG Corporate Finance in connection with the transaction.

Women’s health diagnostic company Concepta has completed a GBP2.3m round of equity financing managed by Diagnostic Capital.
The company was founded off the back of the technology and expertise of former senior Unipath scientists, who were responsible for creating leading brands of digital fertility tests, pregnancy tests and other women’s health diagnostics in the market today, including the Clearblue pregnancy tests.
Concepta will now develop and market a novel diagnostic device for the simple and accurate testing of fertility, pregnancy and early stage healthy pregnancy monitoring.

Mobeus Investments has partially realised its investment in VSI Limited by selling one of the firm’s two operating businesses, MachineWorks Software, to Westec Holding Company.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
Mobeus backed the management buyout of VSI back in 2006.
Based in Sheffield, MachineWorks is a developer of simulation and verification toolkit technology used in computer-aided manufacturing. The firm’s software products simulates machining and helps manufacturers to avoid expensive production mistakes which could cause expensive raw materials to be scrapped or production runs to be disrupted.

More than 200 jobs have been saved after Enact, the GBP7.5m SME fund launched by private equity house Endless, agreed to buy 35 West Cornwall Pasty Company outlets and stores, together with the brand.
The deal follows the appointment of administrators over the company.
The investment in West Cornwall Pasty Company is the first completed by Enact and comes just three months after the fund’s launch. Enact has been supported in the transaction by Sankaty Advisors.

Sub-investment grade corporate credit specialist Alcentra, part of BNY Mellon, has invested in Menix Groupe, the holding company for healthcare firms Serf, Dedienne Santé and Global D and a manufacturer of orthopaedic and dental implants in France.
The funding takes the form of a unitranche investment provided by funds managed by Alcentra and will support the buyout by funds advised by LBO Partners in association with Turenne Investissement and Keensight Capital.
The unitranche investment will provide capital for the growth strategy of Menix.

Calibration services specialist Trescal has acquired Instrument Calibration Services and Test Equipment Repair Corporation, with the support of majority shareholder private investment firm Ardian.
The two companies provide calibration and repair services for a wide variety of measurement and test equipment.
This is the fourth expansion since Ardian acquired Trescal in July 2013.
Instrument Calibration Services and Test Equipment Repair Corporation — both based in Atlanta, Georgia — generated roughly USD4.2m in sales last year and have 24 employees including 18 engineers. The terms of the deals are not disclosed.
