Atlas Holdings has acquired certain operating assets of PDM Bridge, a steel fabricator that produces steel components for the largest and most complex bridge structures.
The acquired assets now operate under a new entity, Veritas Steel. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Veritas Steel becomes a leader in the steel bridge fabrication industry with extensive experience in fabricating both simple and complex bridge structures. With the acquisition, Veritas Steel will operate three fabrication plants in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Wausau, Wisconsin and Palatka, Florida.

Ardian has signed an agreement to invest EUR30m in the CLS Group, a provider of location services, environmental data collection, monitoring and ocean observation.
The existing shareholders – the CNES, the government agency responsible for French space policy in Europe, and Ifremer, the French research institute for exploitation of the sea – retain their stakes, while the minority shareholders sell their holdings in the company.

Apollo Aviation Group has contracted to purchase 38 aircraft and 11 engines, amounting to USD570m, for its second aviation fund, Sciens Aviation Special Opportunities Investment Fund II (SASOF II).
The purchases approved by SASOF II Investment Committee this year include, but are not limited to, 12 Airbus A320ceo family aircraft and 13 Boeing 737 Next Generation models. Specifically during the third quarter, Apollo Aviation committed to purchase 13 aircraft for approximately USD200m.
“Apollo Aviation is a mid-life aircraft specialist. All but two of the aircraft that we have acquired for SASOF II are in-production models,” says William Hoffman, Apollo Aviation’s chairman.
Allen Edmonds, a maker of high-end men's shoes, is to be acquired by Brentwood Associates, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Allen Edmonds has generated some interest in the press recently, after a Wall Street Journal report last month said Men's Wearhouse was pursuing a possible purchase of the company.
Just Marketing International (JMI), a member of Spire Capital’s Fund II portfolio, will be acquired in full by Chime Communications through its subsidiary CSM Sport & Entertainment in a transaction valued at USD76m.
Spire, along with the Indiana Investment Fund, purchased control of JMI in June 2008 with a focus on assisting JMI's management team in leveraging its marketing services presence in the motorsports industry. Spire's focus was centred on operational and financial efficiency, international expansion and client diversification.

Alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has closed its acquisition of Metropolitan Real Estate Equity Management, a real estate multi-manager with more than USD2.6bn in capital commitments.
Equity for the transaction came from Carlyle’s balance sheet. Financial terms were not released.
Metropolitan is now part of Carlyle’s Solutions platform, which also includes AlpInvest, the USD48bn private equity fund of funds business, bringing Solutions AUM to USD50.6bn. The management team of outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse has completed a GBP85m acquisition of the business backed by Royal Bank of Scotland and Alcentra.
The transaction enables the team, led by founder and chief executive Mark Neale, to take full ownership of 169-strong chain, while providing an exit for its mid-market private equity backer LDC which acquired a significant minority shareholding in August 2010 as part of a GBP47m buyout.
The transaction delivers a strong return for LDC, more than doubling its original investment within three years, during which time the business has traded through two recessions.

High Road Capital Partners’ portfolio company The Crown Group has completed the acquisition of Electra-Finish.
Electra-Finish is a provider of plastic coating services and solutions to the automotive, agricultural, heavy truck and other industrial end markets.
The company is based in Asheboro, North Carolina with a second facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The transaction represents the first add-on acquisition The Crown Group has completed under High Road’s ownership.

Renewables infrastructure specialist Platina Partners has completed the sale of its Long Mountain wind farm to independent Irish energy company Energia, a member of the Viridian Group.
The project was the last asset to exit Platina’s Mistral Energy I (ME I) fund, which has now completed its full investment cycle. Earlier this year Platina completed the full investment cycle for its Mistral Wind Farm I Fund.
