Specialist business advisory firm FRP has acquired Spectrum Corporate Finance (Spectrum) in a GBP9.4 million deal.
Founded in 2010 by Simon Davies, Clive Hatchard and Ian Milne, Spectrum is the largest independent corporate finance and debt advisory firm in the South of England. It provides strategic support and advice for owner-managed businesses and their funders across the UK mid-market from its offices in Reading and London, with particular focus on the central South, South East and London markets.
In 2020, Spectrum’s corporate finance team advised on 25 completed transactions with a combined deal value of more than GBP900
Baseload Capital, a Swedish company specialised in funding the deployment of heat power worldwide, has closed a USD25 million funding round with Chevron Technology Ventures as a new strategic investor.
As an initial outcome of the alliance, Chevron Technical Center and Baseload Capital have already signed a letter of intent to investigate a potential pilot project in California.

ARX Equity Partners (ARX), a private equity firm with a 20-year track record supporting the growth and development of mid-sized companies in Central Europe, has is to acquire Instrumentation Technologies (I-Tech).
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Completion of the acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions. As part of the deal, ARX has agreed to partner with the Company ́s existing management team, who will continue to lead its future growth and development.

Mid-market private equity investor LDC, has backed the management buyout of data and network security specialist Phoenix Datacom.
The partnership with LDC will support the existing management team – led by Managing Director, John Carson – to expand Phoenix Datacom’s suite of hardware and software products and related services to help its enterprise customers further enhance their cyber-security. LDC’s backing will also help the team to explore complementary acquisitions.

UK-based neuromuscular medical device company, GyroGear Ltd has just concluded phase one of its seed round fundraise. The round was led by electronics manufacturer Foxconn Technology Group which invested GBP1 million (USD1.41 million) upfront.
Participants in GyroGear’s seed round include the UK Government Future Fund, Singapore venture builder Fidelium Group, and other established strategic investors and business leaders. Phase two of the seed round is ongoing and scheduled for completion in March 2021.

Growth capital investor VGC Partners has provided GBP150,000 funding to VozLab, the creator of a self-serve development platform for the next generation of flexible voice apps.
This is the first investment that VGC Partners has made from its Technology Seed Fund IV. VozLab is also the first start-up to join Amazon’s UK Alexa Incubator Programme, which provides technical and business mentorship support from the Amazon Alexa team.
