William Reeve has joined DFJ Esprit, a European technology venture capital firm, as venture partner.

William Reeve has joined DFJ Esprit, a European technology venture capital firm, as venture partner. Reeve joins to support DFJ Esprit’s existing portfolio as well as to seek out new investment opportunities across Europe. He joins from DFJ Esprit portfolio company LOVEFiLM International, where he was Chief Operating Officer.

DFJ Esprit states, “With 11 years as an internet entrepreneur, Reeve brings a wealth of relevant experience in establishing, growing and internationally expanding internet businesses. In 2003 he founded ScreenSelect.co.uk, a DFJ Esprit-backed company that merged with LOVEFiLM in mid 2006. The combined business now has nearly 1m subscribers in five countries and manages over 10m shipments per month. Prior to that, Reeve was European Group Director for Forrester Research (NASDAQ: FORR). Forrester Research acquired Fletcher Research, a company Reeve founded in 1997 which grew to become the UK’s leading internet research firm, in 1999.”

Simon Cook, CEO DFJ Esprit, says, “We are thrilled to have William join our team. He has founded and worked with a number of internet businesses that are true European success stories. His experience will be a real asset to our portfolio as DFJ Esprit continues to invest and partner with exciting, start-up technology companies across Europe.”

Reeve says, “I have worked with DFJ Esprit for a number of years, since they backed my last business – ScreenSelect.co.uk/LOVEFiLM International. Their knowledge, experience and contacts were invaluable in helping that business become the leading international online film rental business and one of Europe’s most successful startup e-commerce companies. But LOVEFiLM is just one of many winning investments and exits to DFJ Esprit’s name and I look forward to working with their accomplished team to build many more.”

Reeve invests in the UK high-growth scene, and is actively involved with Graze.com, iAnnounce.co.uk, True Knowledge Ltd and Zoopla.com. A former McKinsey consultant, he has a first class Masters degree from Oxford University.
