DHL to acquire minority stake in Apollo’s Evri

Private equity firm Apollo Global Management is set to gain a major strategic partner for its UK-based parcel delivery company, Evri, after German logistics giant DHL agreed to acquire a significant minority stake in the business, according to a report by Reuters.

The move marks a key milestone in Apollo’s value-creation strategy for Evri, as it gears up for expansion beyond the UK.

The transaction, which also involves the merger of Evri with DHL’s UK parcel business, DHL eCommerce UK, will create one of the largest logistics networks in Britain. The combined platform is expected to handle over one billion parcels and an additional one billion business letters annually, according to a joint statement.

Financial terms wof the deal have not been disclosed.

For Apollo, the deal represents a strategic step toward scaling Evri’s operations, leveraging DHL’s international footprint to unlock new cross-border opportunities. Through DHL’s global network—spanning Europe, the US, and Asia – Evri will be positioned to offer faster international delivery times and extend its reach into growth markets like India.

The partnership also paves the way for Evri to enter the British business letter market, diversifying its revenue base and tapping into a segment traditionally dominated by incumbents.

Apollo acquired a majority stake in Evri (formerly Hermes UK) in 2021 and has since been focused on enhancing the company’s digital capabilities, delivery infrastructure, and sustainability credentials.
