Duane Morris adds health law partner and PE lawyer Ari J Markenson

Ari J Markenson has joined Duane Morris’ health law practice group as a partner in its New York office.

Markenson bolsters the firm’s national health law practice group, particularly in the area of healthcare M&A, regulatory work and private equity.
 
Markenson joins the firm from Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff.
 
Markenson has spent his career working at the intersection of healthcare, law and business. He counsels healthcare industry clients, including providers and payers, on a wide range of matters with specific experience in the representation of post-acute and continuing care providers and suppliers. He represents private equity firms on healthcare transactions, including significant regulatory, M&A and portfolio company work including serving in an outside general counsel role. He advises healthcare clients on mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, due diligence, corporate matters, legal and regulatory compliance issues, including requirements and conditions for participation; fraud and abuse; HIPAA; and survey, certification and enforcement issues.
 
Markenson previously served as deputy general counsel at Cypress Health Care Management in White Plains, New York, a privately held, post-acute care and senior housing healthcare company with nursing home, assisted living, rehabilitation therapy, durable medical equipment, hospice, pharmacy and group purchasing business operations in 10 states.
 
Markenson is active in the American Health Lawyers Association and served as a past vice chair of its Long-Term Care, Senior Housing, In-Home Care and Rehabilitation Practice Group. He is a member of both the legal committee of the American Health Care Association and the executive committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Health Law Section and serves on the editorial advisory board of the Long-Term Survey Alert.
