Emerging Capital Partners joins UN responsible investment initiative

Emerging Capital Partners, a private equity firm committed to building responsible businesses across the African continent, has become a signatory to the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment.

The principles are a globally recognised initiative dedicated to integrating environmental, social and governance considerations into investment processes.

Signing the guidelines is consistent with Emerging Capital Partners’ efforts in contributing to development in Africa by upholding best practices in corporate governance, social development and environmental sustainability in the continent’s private sector.

As part of this initiative, Emerging Capital Partners has institutionalised a new protocol to track ESG impact and mandated internal ESG training to promote knowledge on related issues.

"Weighing social and environmental responsibility on par with economic profitability is not a matter of choice but rather a necessity in creating sustainable economic value for all who have a stake in our success in Africa," says Hurley Doddy, Emerging Capital Partners’ co-chief executive officer. "Signing the UNPRI is consistent with our efforts to foster a culture of transparency and accountability inside our portfolio companies."

Throughout Emerging Capital Partners’ ten years of investing, it has supported creation of more than 50,000 jobs throughout Africa.
