Swedish private equity giant EQT has named Per Franzén as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner, effective 27 May 2025, with Christian Sinding to remain as CEO until then, before transitioning to a new role as an Institutional Partner and Council Chair.
Franzén, who has spent nearly two decades at EQT, currently serving as Deputy Managing Partner and Head of Private Capital Europe & North America, will be based in London despite the firm being headquartered in Stockholm. He most recently led the €22bn raise of EQT X, which was the largest private equity fund closed globally in 2024. EQT had €269bn in total assets under management as of 31 December.
According to a news release, EQT is targeting a €100bn ($103.2bn) fundraising cycle and wants to execute on initiatives including the launch of additional investment strategies, expanded distribution channels, and the acceleration of brand-building efforts.
In his new role, Sinding, who joined EQT in 1998, will Chair the newly formed EQT Council, which aims to “amplify EQT’s ability to create meaningful partnerships, provide clients with the insights needed to succeed for the long-term, and accelerate the impact of its global business”, while also continuing to Chair the Global Investment Forum, which “brings together EQT’s most senior investment professionals to optimise performance by sharing expertise and insights from across all of EQT’s strategies”. He will also remain a member of several EQT fund Investment Committees.
