Thomas von Koch has been appointed as the new managing partner at private equity group EQT.
Founder Conni Jonsson, who has served as managing partner since the inception of EQT back in 1994 will, in his role as working chairman of EQT Holdings AB, continue to work full time for EQT and focus on investment advisory activities and increased interaction with EQT investors.
Both von Koch (pictured) and Jonsson will be members of all relevant EQT investment advisory related committees and portfolio company review committees.
“It has been an amazing 20 years leading EQT from a single buyout firm with a Swedish accent to becoming one of the most successful private equity organisations in Europe,” says Jonsson. “I am very proud of what we have achieved together with partners and colleagues within EQT. EQT has grown tremendously and we need to make sure we strengthen our management structure accordingly.”
Von Koch is 47 years old and was part of the team that founded EQT. During his tenure at EQT, he has been involved in many private equity transactions such as ComHem, KBW and Gambro. He was also head of the EQT equity business line between 2008 and 2011.
“I am really excited to take on the challenge of managing EQT – it is quite a changed company compared to the one we started in 1994. Today, EQT is global, differentiated and well recognised for the ability to truly develop companies,” says von Koch.
